The Wairoa Funding Support Programme is committed to creating positive and sustainable funding pathways for the Wairoa district, supporting community-driven projects and enhancing local development.

Launched in 2023 through a partnership between the Wairoa Young Achievers Trust (WYAT) and the Eastern and Central Community Trust (ECCT), the programme’s goal is to provide local groups and organisations with the resources and guidance they need to secure funding. By fostering stronger community connections, the programme aims to build lasting resilience and enable the community to take greater ownership of its financial future.

Over the past decade, WYAT has supported many local organisations and individuals with financial management. However, this partnership with ECCT has expanded the scope of support, helping the Wairoa community navigate the often complex funding application process with more specialised assistance. The programme’s hands-on approach empowers local groups to gain the confidence and knowledge needed to independently access and manage funding streams, enabling them to deliver successful, impactful projects.

The Wairoa Funding Support Programme offers guidance not only on securing funding but also on managing applications, financial reporting, and accountability. By building the community’s capacity to understand and manage funding processes, the programme is fostering a more financially independent and sustainable future for the district.

“ECCT has identified Wairoa as one of its priority communities, and by partnering with WYAT, we are working towards making a meaningful and lasting impact. Providing dedicated funding support locally has helped organisations in Wairoa navigate the often complex world of funding applications. We are confident that this partnership will continue to strengthen the community’s wellbeing and capacity,” said ECCT Chief Executive David Clapperton.

This programme continues to provide a crucial service to the Wairoa district, ensuring that local organisations are well-equipped to pursue funding opportunities that drive positive change and enhance the district’s overall growth and development.
