For the Te Wairoa Rangatahi Netball team, one tournament led to another opportunity to get back on court together and continue competing away from home.
The team initially travelled to Taupō to take part in the APAI tournament, representing Te Wairoa and gaining the opportunity to play against other teams in a tournament environment.
Their netball didn’t finish there.
The rangatahi were later able to travel to Hamilton for another tournament, where they once again came up against some of the same opposition they had faced at APAI. Competing in the Social Mixed Grade, Te Wairoa finished in 4th place.
Having another opportunity to compete gave the team more time together on court and another chance to put themselves up against teams from outside of Wairoa.
While tournament placings are always something to celebrate, experiences like these are also about giving our rangatahi opportunities to participate, travel together and continue doing something they enjoy alongside their teammates.
The photos shared with their accountability report capture the group together both on the courts and during their time away, providing a great snapshot of the rangatahi behind the results.
WYAT is proud to support our local rangatahi to access opportunities beyond Wairoa and continue participating in sport.
Congratulations to the Te Wairoa Rangatahi Netball team on their 4th-place finish in Hamilton and, more importantly, for taking up another opportunity to get out there and compete together.
