At Wairoa Young Achievers Trust (WYAT), we are incredibly proud to support local talent, and this month, our focus is on Miharo Te Amo-Tipuna, a young rugby league star whose determination and drive have taken him to new heights.

Miharo’s journey with rugby league has been one of hard work and perseverance. Recently, he was selected for the Mid Central Zone (MCZ) Viper Under-18s squad, a major achievement that reflects his dedication and talent. Through this selection, Miharo had the opportunity to participate in the U18 NZRL National Tournament, representing his whānau, hapū, and iwi with immense pride.

The Wairoa Young Achievers Trust was honoured to play a role in Miharo’s success by providing a grant that helped cover transport costs to his training sessions in Hawke’s Bay and Wanganui, as well as tournament fees. This financial support allowed Miharo to fully focus on his training without the added pressure of how to manage the logistical and financial demands of competing at this level.

Reflecting on how WYAT’s support has helped him, Miharo expressed his gratitude: “The grant made it possible for me to attend all my trainings and represent my team at nationals. It’s given me a huge boost, and I feel more prepared than ever for future opportunities.”

The experience has not only allowed Miharo to sharpen his rugby skills but has also paved the way for future opportunities in the sport. His impressive performance in the national tournament has opened doors that could lead to a promising future in rugby league.

At WYAT, we believe in fostering the potential of Wairoa’s youth, and Miharo’s success is a shining example of what can be achieved with the right support. We are committed to backing young achievers like Miharo as they chase their dreams and contribute positively to our community.

As Miharo continues his journey, we will be cheering him on every step of the way. His dedication, hard work, and talent are an inspiration to other young people in Wairoa, showing them that with the right support, anything is possible. Congratulations to Miharo, and we look forward to seeing all the great things the future holds for him!
