Tiaki Grace and her teammates had the opportunity to represent Wairoa at the National Waka Ama Championships, an experience that brought together teamwork, determination and pride in representing their community.
Competing as a team of seven girls, including five paddlers and two reserves, the group worked hard in preparation for the event. Their dedication and commitment paid off as they made it to the national stage and proudly took part in the competition.
For the girls, the experience was about more than just racing. It was a chance to strengthen friendships, build confidence and represent Wairoa alongside other talented paddlers from around the country.
The team shared their appreciation for the support that helped make the trip possible and expressed how grateful they were to be able to participate in such a memorable event.
Opportunities like this help our rangatahi grow through sport, teamwork and community connection. WYAT is proud to support our young people as they continue to pursue their passions and represent Wairoa with pride.
