The Tapuae Under 16 Rugby League team proudly represented Wairoa throughout the 2025 Hawke’s Bay Rugby League season.
The team brought together Rangatahi from Wairoa College and Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Ngāti Kahungunu o te Wairoa, creating an opportunity for young players to grow their skills, confidence and connection to one another through sport.
Throughout the season the players showed strong commitment to the kaupapa, representing their whānau and community with pride each time they took the field. The programme provided a valuable space for Rangatahi to develop teamwork, discipline and leadership while strengthening friendships and bonds within the group.
Beyond the games themselves, the season helped reinforce important values including whanaungatanga, respect and support for one another both on and off the field. These experiences contribute to the personal growth of each player and help build confidence for the future.

At the end of the season several players were recognized for their contributions and commitment to the team.
